Stepping out in faith to be Christ to others in the world

Fred Camp

FRED CAMP 2015, June 28-July 4
Beginning Our 15th Year of Area Ministry!
YOU CAN HELP NOW!
Woo-HOOOOO!!  It's FredCamp time again!  Not that you need an invitation, BUT...please do consider this YOUR invitation to help with FredCamp 2015 (June 28-July 4).  Everyone can participate, as you know and here, you can read about the many ways FredCamp needs YOU this year.  With project selection completed and all our adult and youth camper spaces now full, it's time to do some serious volunteer staff recruitment and extra fundraising for this year's camp.

For those who may not be able to help in other ways, we like to suggest cash donations.  While we are very careful with budgeting and spending of the funds from our camper fees, we have some extra challenging home sites which present us with greater materials costs than we might have foreseen in the vetting process.  Still, God has always provided exactly what we need for 15 years, as His light shined through the generous hearts of our special donor angels.  We believe this year will be no different, because you and others will join us in rising to the occasion. Here's how you can do this:

Quick and direct cash payments can be made via PayPal!  You may either use the 'send money' or 'make payment' features of your own PayPal account or by credit card if you don't have an individual PayPal account.  It's fast, easy and convenient; a PayPal receipt will be e-mailed to you, and we will follow up with our letter of confirmation.  You may also help us earn money by using GoodSearch and GoodShop for your internet search and shopping needs.  Be sure to enter FredCamp as the charity for which you are searching or shopping; we will receive a percentage of your shopping purchases and a penny for every search you conduct.  It adds up quickly!  And, of course, you can always mail us a check the old-fashioned way.  Please go to our website "How You Can Help" page and scan down the page to "Donations" to link to any of these options:

Sunday, June 28 from 11am - 4pm:  This is FRED CAMP SUNDAY at all our participating churches, as most teams will worship together and travel to camp together for check-in.   Why not stop for lunch, too, and make it a fundraiser!  And, we're inviting ALL OUR FRIENDS an opportunity to turn your after-church Sunday lunch into real FredCamp support.  Bring your whole family:  Salsaritas, 10117 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.  Just mention FredCamp when you pay, and 10% of your bill becomes a donation to FredCamp!  :-)

WE ALSO NEED STAFF VOLUNTEERS!  Attached is our volunteer staff application package and description of positions/needs this year (see page 3 of package); almost all are part-time jobs which can be--and usually are--shared by MANY individuals during our annual camp week.  But here's the thing: WE NEED TO FILL ALL THE JOBS DURING ALL OF CAMP WEEK.  THIS REQUIRES MUCH PLANNING/SCHEDULING (not to mention making sure we have fabulous FredCamp T-shirts and nametags ready for every staffer).  So...please don't wait.  Let us know of your availability right away, if possible.
Some of you may ask, "Can my child or grandchild help with me?"  We are glad to have your helpers serving in ride-along or tag-along status with parents/grandparents; in fact, we make a pretty big deal of it--we'll even have special nametags just for our youngest helpers.  However, there are a couple of important things we advise parents/grandparents.  First, our insurance policies do not permit young riders in vehicles with anyone other than the parent/grandparent who is legally responsible for the child.  Second, the ride-along helpers must stay with you at all times and may not do any work on the site.

Now, those same insurance policies do not permit "visitors" to our project sites other than FredCamp staff members or persons who are accompanied by FredCamp staffers.  We welcome all visitors to come to the Headquarters office, check-in with the Director, and be escorted by a FredCamp staffer to any site during the work day (from about 9 to about 3). THIS LAST INSURANCE POLICY IS A GREAT REASON FOR CAMPER PARENTS/FRIENDS TO VOLUNTEER IN ANY OF THE POSITIONS WHICH INVOLVE SITE VISITS!

If you can help with any of these jobs, PLEASE let us know by return e-mail.  Every staff member will be asked to complete the application and emergency medical release form pages; we'll need these back as soon as possible, either via e-mail or regular mail to:  FredCamp, Inc., Attn:  Pam Jewett-Bullock, 4 Blossom Wood Ct, Stafford, VA 22554.

DO let us hear from you soon, won't you?
FredCamp Cheers,
Pam Jewett-Bullock
